Digital Accessibility in 2025 and beyond
Having an inclusive online presence is critical. We interact with and rely on online services for seemingly every part of our daily lives, so it’s critical for agencies to have an inclusive mindset when it comes to developing digital products. Now, more than ever, it is essential to ensure that those with disabilities have guaranteed access to the digital world.
June 2025 will see The European Accessibility Act (EEA) put in place requirements for relevant digital products (to conform to WCAG 2.1 AA standards). This is a positive step in ensuring people with disabilities have guaranteed access to critical, everyday services online.
Businesses and charities operating within Europe must understand and prepare for this change. It will be a legal obligation, and non-compliance could lead to financial penalties.
What do we mean by digital products and interfaces?
This will cover a broad range of online products such as websites (including e-commerce, banking, booking and ticketing sites), apps, e-books, ATMs, point-of-sale devices, self-service kiosks and any digital product with a public-facing interface.
GOOD on inclusivity
At GOOD we design and build digital products with user-centric principles, accessibility and best-practice front of mind. Putting the user first is a fundamental practice for creating online experiences that prioritise your audience’s needs, preferences and experiences.
The web and digital spaces should be inclusive and accessible to everyone. With years of collaboration alongside organisations like Sense and RNIB, we bring extensive expertise in meeting AA and AAA accessibility standards. Our mission is to design websites and online experiences that are intuitive and navigable for individuals with disabilities. Accessibility is not just a standard practice for us—it’s a deeply held passion that drives us to enhance every aspect of the online journey.
How can we help you?
Through varying levels of output, GOOD’s digital team can help maximise your online presence and potential with comprehensive audits. We identify friction points and areas for improvement and provide tailored solutions to enhance accessibility, user experience, and ultimately, conversions.
GOOD collaborates closely with internal teams to create a tailored action plan, addressing any recommendations for an existing build or scoping out new or additional development as needed.
